Folk Art
Trying some folk art. Just wanted to try something different. These are all very small- 6inchx8inch. I =really enjoyed doing them. There are a few "fails".. mostly when I try to use green. So, thinking about how to use a more toned down green color for outdoor scenes.

Old Boatyard- Sneads Ferry, NC
Still working on this one a bit...Sneads Ferry, NC. This is from a reference photo from a visit there a few years ago. Currently, I have a lot of workers at my house, painting exterior and doing some
inside repairs. My studio windows are covered with tarps and lots of noise! 8x10 oil

Plein Air- Charleston, SC. Pitts Street Bridge area
Enjoyed getting out and meeting some new plein air painting friends. The weather has been unusually warm- in the high 60's to low 70's. Not complaining!

Patiently Waiting
Charleston Sunset- palette knife
Saw this view on the way to the Charleston Airport. Its a 8x10 palette knife. I like to do these small ones with a palette knife- it seems to keep the colors crisper and less muddy.

Nightime Acrylic Still life
I like to do these acrylic still life paintings at night. They are fun and relaxing. I usually just spend an hour or so on each. This one is 16x20, Acrylic. Some times the hardest part is finding and arranging the objects. I try to not fiddle around too long with the arranging part.

Early Spring
This is Stumpy Pond in Fort Mill. Dave and I walked here last Sunday because we finally had a nice day- no rain and 70 degrees. The pond was actually muddy brown from all the rain, but I used my artistic license and made it blue. We had a great walk and I found many new areas to paint and took lots of photos. 8x10, oil

Daniel Island Marsh
I visited this area in Charleston, SC, last week. This is a tidal creek, so sometimes its almost empty. But here its full! Debating about adding a bird. Those white egrets are tough to paint- so I might let this dry first, then try to add the egret. We'll see.

Valentine Roses
Experimenting with Oil painting on Illustration Board. I love how it absorbs some of the paint, create a nice drag and dries so quickly. I know there is specific oil paper and I'm going to buy some. Hoping I can get similar results.
